Being a carer, especially if you have given up work in order to care, can make a significant difference to your pension. The Pension Service offers advice if you are planning ahead or retired. You can get a state pension forecast by visiting www.thepensionservice.gov.uk.
If you are working, it's worth checking out your position in relation to Home Responsibilities Protection. The Pensions Advisory Service offers up-to-date information about the changing world of pensions. Call 0845 601 2923 or visit www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk. There's also a dedicated helpline especially for women, who often experience poorer pension provision than men. Call 0845 600 0806.
