Pericles Training, Work & Therapy
Location: West Hoathly, East Sussex
Our work: Day care facility, accommodation and performing arts theatre for people with learning difficulties.
Our services:
- Our aim is to help individuals to fulfil their individual potential. We work to include people with disabilities in the life of the community. Pericles is based on Rudolf Steiner's curative educational and social therapeutic impulse. We have strong links with other Steiner based organisations.
- Our day care facility offers craft workshops, woodwork, art and horticultural activities. There is an organic cafe which allows participants the opportunity to serve the public.
- Our theatre company gives public performances with professional actors, dancers and musicians. A grant from Awards for All is supporting our work in 2009. We are working with Brighton University to develop a sound orchestra.
- Accommodation - there are two houses each accommodating three people. These offer placements. They are led by couples with their own children and are run as an extended family.
