Advocacy and Advice
Brighton & Hove Speak Out
Location: Portslade
Our work: We help adults with learning disabilities in Brighton & Hove to speak up and be heard.
Our services:
- We are an independent charity that has been running for 10 years. We provide different types of advocacy support to people with learning difficulties including;
- One to one advocacy and self advocacy in groups
- The Link Group - we send representatives to meetings of the Learning Disability Partnership Board to promote positive changes in services for people with learning difficulties
- The Big Meeting - where representatives and local service user groups meet every two months. Issues raised are taken forward to the Partnership Board by the Link Group
- The Tuesday, Wednesday, Young People and Loud and Clear groups - members of these groups meet and discuss important learning difficulty issues. Action is often taken by members to campaign for change
- What's to do - a project for those with mild learning disabilities who are socially isolated and would like to meet new people.
